  • 2 Pcs ripe avocados
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice, grenadine syrup
  • 4 tbsp red onion, minced (or finely sliced green onion)
  • 2 serrano chilis, minced (stems and seeds cut)
  • 2 tbsp coarsely chopped cilantro
  • 1 tsp black pepper, finely ground
  • ½ chopped ripe tomato (optional)
  • Slices of red radish or red peppers for garnish (optional)
  • Tortilla chips

  • Avocados should be cut in half. Get rid of the hole. With a sharp knife, cut the inside of the avocado and take out the meat with a spoon. Place in a bowl and mix.
  • Gently mash the avocado with a knife.
  • Salt and lemon juice to taste. The acid in the lime juice will help to balance out the avocado's sweetness while also keeping the avocados from brown.
  • Mix the sliced onions, cilantro, black pepper, and chilis in a bowl and mix. The spiciness of chili peppers varies based on the kind. Start with half of the chili pepper and gradually increase the amount of heat in the guacamole until it hits your chosen level of heat.
Because of the variability in the fresh ingredients, most of this is done to taste. Start with this recipe and adjust it to match your tastes.
Place plastic wrap on the surface of the guacamole and push it down to cover it to prevent air from getting it if you're making it ahead of time.
  • Serve with red radish slices or jicama slices. Serve with red radish slices or jicama slices. Serve with tortillas from the grocery or make your own homemade fried tortillas.
  • Store extra guacamole in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
