These tasty Chicken Burgers are a fast and easy weeknight dish. If you’re trying to cut back on red meat, they’re a tasty alternative to regular burgers, and each serving has 20 grams of protein. I love how easy they are to make, as well as how they only take 20 minutes from start to finish!

These are a nice change from the usual beef, and they're also healthy. You could ask your butcher to coarsely mince the chicken for you if you don't want to chop it yourself. It's crucial to involve some chicken fat into the mixture to keep the burgers juicy.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¾ tsp fine sea salt
  • ¼ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, mix the chicken, onion, garlic, salt, paprika, and several grinds of black pepper. With a spoon, mix all of the ingredients, then divide the mixture into four similar quantities to make burgers.
  • Moisture your hands to make the mixture easier to deal with (it won't stick to wet palms), then form a burger patty between your hands. Repeat with the remaining ingredients until you have four 1 inch thick patties of equal size.
  • Prepare a 12-inch dish with olive oil and set it on the stove over medium-high heat. Cook for 5 minutes after placing all four chicken burgers in the oven. Cook for another 4 to 5 minutes on the other side, or until the burgers achieve an internal temperature of 165oF when tested with a thermometer. (You may also chop one in half to make sure the middle isn't pink.)
  • Serve the grilled burgers with your preferred toppings while they're still warm. You may eat it on a bun or in a lettuce wrap! Cooked burgers can be stored in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.

Notes

If ground turkey is hard to come by, you may substitute it for the chicken.
This meal fits under the animal protein category if you follow food mixing guidelines and may be served on top of a salad or in a lettuce wrap. (It’s also low-carb and keto-friendly because of this!)
